Persian Wedding at Salt Water Farm Vineyard
In the 18 years I’ve been in this industry, this was my first Persian wedding.
Johanna and Kamran were one of my favorite couples. Not only was their style unique….I like to call it “Vintage – Chic”, but they let me have creative freedom with the designs.
We came up with the concept together and just ran with it. We created the tablescapes by using colorful summer garden flowers arranged very effortlessly in various jadeite vessels. Along with the cluster of containers, we added tons of old handkerchiefs to the tables for the vintage effect.
Handkerchiefs were also used to wrap the bouquets and used as a linen to lay under antiqued silver sugar and creamers on the cocktail tables.
The ceremony was so cool! In the Persian culture there is a Sofreh table which housed organic elements that signified certain things. For instance, there was a bowl of eggs to help with fertility. My favorite was the honey that they sensually fed to each other to signify that there marriage and love may always be sweet.
And….we can not forget Arthur! Their Dog / Ring Bearer! He has his own limo that dropped him off and picked him up. Of course, I decorated his collar so he could look as dapper as his parents!
I had my friend and professional photographer, Kiva Sutton from Annandale Photography take these photos for me. I asked him to have fun with some of the photos and give them a vintage feel…and boy did he! What an amazing job he did.
The venue was Salt Water Farm Vineyard located in North Stonington, Ct. The owners Merrily and Michael are the greatest and refer me often. The hanger is where receptions take place and the original runway is nestled in between the vineyards. It is the coolest place ever. They are also a part of the CT wine trail…visit them!
